After recognizing that the majority of safari packages available online are geared towards non-resident foreigners interested in visiting Masai Mara, we decided to create an affordable package exclusively for Kenyan residents. As locals living in Nairobi and operating a camp in the Mara, we have crafted a competitive offering tailored specifically for our fellow Kenyan residents.

We believe that Masai Mara is a destination most Kenyans would like to explore at least once in their lifetime. Being one of the greatest natural wonders known, we aim to make this experience as easy and affordable as possible for our local residents.

Who qualifies for this resident’s package to Mara?

The entrance fee to Masai Mara Game Reserve is exorbitantly high for non-residents, with rates expected to reach $200 per person during the peak season from July to October in 2024. However, for residents, the rates will also increase, albeit by a relatively modest margin, from the current Kes. 1200 per day to Kes. 3000. Remarkably, even the Kes. 3000 charged for residents during the peak tourist season amounts to just $20, making it an incredibly enticing opportunity to visit this Reserve for those with valid residency status in Kenya..

You are regarded as a Kenyan resident if you have the following;

• Are working in Kenya and have a valid work permit
• Have obtained Kenya’s Alien ID with a valid student pass or any other status
• Have been married to a Kenyan Citizen and have a dependence pass or permanent residency status
• Have a valid Kenya passport or valid Kenyan ID.

This resident safari package aims to provide an opportunity for Kenyan residents of all economic backgrounds to explore the beauty and diversity of Masai Mara National Reserve. As much as we want to make this experience affordable, we also strive to maintain high standards of service, accommodation, and activities.

Our packages are customizable based on individual preferences and budget constraints. Whether you want to stay in a luxurious lodge or opt for a more budget-friendly camping experience, we have got you covered. Our safari vehicles are well-maintained and equipped with all the necessary amenities for your comfort and safety.

By default, we have made this package affordable by hosting our guests at Kambu Mara Camp but we are open to customize our package if you wish to stay in any other accommodation.

Overview of Residents’ Safari Package:

Your safari will start in Nairobi where a driver who is also a trained guide will pick you up from your home/apartment. You’ll use a 4WD safari vehicle – either a Land Cruiser or a Toyota Hiace and can expect to do at least 10 hours of game driving over the trip. We can arrange to pick you up from any of Kenya’s major cities such as Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Naivasha if you are not residing in Nairobi. This package has, however, been designed specifically for those residing in Nairobi. The trip will last for 3 days and you’ll be staying at our Kambu Mara Camp located close to Sekenani, Masai Mara’s main entry gate.

Itinerary:

Day 1:

Embark on a morning departure from Nairobi, setting off on a journey towards the enchanting Masai Mara. Along the way, relish in the captivating vistas of the escarpment, and pause for a delightful cup of coffee at the Narok Coffee House. Upon arrival at Mara, be warmly greeted at the Kambu Mara Camp, where refreshing beverages await, preceding a delectable lunch. Following this, partake in an exhilarating afternoon game drive, immersing yourself in the wonders of the Mara. As the sun sets, return to the camp for a sumptuous dinner, followed by a restful overnight stay.

After dinner, unwind in the lounge/bar area of our camp, where you can relax and take in the campfire ambiance. Alternatively, you have the option to retire to your tent and marvel at the beauty of the starlit sky.

Day 2:

Wake up to the sounds of nature and embark on an early morning game drive, the perfect time to spot elusive wildlife. As the sun rises over the plains, witness the spectacular views and capture incredible photos. After breakfast, visit a nearby Maasai village for a cultural experience and gain insight into their way of life. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the Mara, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. In the evening, head out on another game drive and witness the unique wildlife of Masai Mara.

Day 3:

The final day starts with a leisurely breakfast before departing for Nairobi, where you’ll arrive in time for lunch. This marks the end of your memorable safari experience to Masai Mara.
